In this tutorials, i will like to show you how to utilize the glo free browsing circulating in town for glo nigeria users right on your Nokia C1 to C3 mobile phone with manual configuration. currently at the time of writing this post, glo is dashing out free megabytes for each N500 and above recharge card you are load. but this internet bundle has its own different access point name without which you can not be able to browse on your PC with is also applicable on mobile phones. here i will also teach you how to activate glo sim for browsing. Note that at the time of publishing this post, the free megabyte promo was on.
If you want to use Globacom Internet Bundles or the free glo legal browsing with your phone ( irrespective of the model or maker) , you must make sure you configure your phone to use the following three parameters as the default web/internet settings, then you will be able to browse the internet with your phone using your Glo Nigeria Sim Card.
Globacom Internet Bundle settings
APN == gloflat
USERNAME == flat
PASSWORD == flat
With the above settings, you will be able to access the internet with your phone only when you subscribe to globacom data bundle plan. but it won't work for the free kb given each time you recharge N500 and above
Globacom Free Data Bundle settings
APN == glosecure
USERNAME == gprs
PASSWORD == gprs
If you are given free kb data after dialing 1241, configure your phone manually with the above settings and it should be able to browse
How to configure Nokia C1 to C3
With the steps below, you should be able to configure any Nokia phone you have manually. so i will be using the second settings for the free glo legal browsing above.
Configuring Access point
Using Nokia C3 as example
From your Nokia c3 Menu, Go to Settings = Configuration. Scroll down till you see “Personal Settings”. Select it. Then click on “Options”, select “Add New”. Choose “Access Point”. You will see : “Account name” and “Access Point Settings”. Enter "Glo3G” or any name as the “Account name”. Thereafter, Select “Access Point settings”, then “Bearer settings”. You will then see a list of settings you can change. Just edit them as listed below:
Packet data access point = glosecure
Network type = IPv4
Authentication type = Normal
Username = gprs
Password = gprs
Once you are done, just select “Back” 3 times. You should see the new APN you created in a list under “Personal accounts” with a G-like icon.
Activating the Access Point
From your Nokia c3 Menu, Go to Settings = Connectivity = Packet Data. You will see: “Packet Data Connection” and “Packet Data Settings”. Set “Packet Data Connection to “Always Online” . Then select “Packet Data Settings”. You will see: “Active Access Point” and “Edit Active Access Point”. Select “Active Access Point” and you should see a list of Access Points. Just choose the one you created above ( which I named Glo3G as explained above) and select “Activate”.
Configuring Web settings
From your Nokia c3 Menu, Go to Settings = Configuration. Scroll down till you see “Personal Settings”. Select it. Then click on “Options”, click “Add New”. Choose “Web”. You will then see a list of settings you can change. Just edit them as listed below:
Account Name = Glo ( This can be any name)
Homepage = http://www.gloworld.com/ ( This can be any web/wap url)
Username = gprs
Password = gprs
Use preferred access pt = Yes
Once you are done, just select “Back”. You should see the new Web Setting you created in a list under “Personal accounts” with a ball-like icon. Thereafter, highlight the Web setting, select “Options” and select “Activate”.
From your Nokia c3 Menu, Go to Settings = Configuration. You will see: “Default config. settings” , “Default in all apps” , “Preferred Access Point” and “Personal Settings”. Just edit them as listed below:
Default config. settings = choose “Personal config”
Default in all apps = Yes
Preferred Access Point = choose the Access Point created earlier ( Glo3G)
Personal settings = Just leave it
Configuring Your Phone’s Web Browser
From your Nokia c3 Menu, Go to “Internet”. Scroll down till you see “Web Settings”. Select it. Then scroll down to “Configuration Settings”. Select it. You will then see: “Configuration” and “Account”. Select “Configuration” and choose “Personal config” from the list. This simply ensures that your phone’s browser uses the “personal configuration” you created manually.
launch your browser and start enjoying your glo free MB legally. if it doesn't connect, continue launching it until it will start connecting
You should be able to access the internet only with the above settings if you have the free MB data given to you when you dial 1241.
But for the Glo Nigeria internet bundle subscription, just edit the settings with the information provided under the Globacom Internet Bundle Settings above.
